Bernard Vander Molen was born August 19, 1923 to Lewis and Katie (Nieuwsma) Vander Molen near Peoria, Iowa. He attended Peoria Christian School where he completed the eighth grade.

He was baptized in the Peoria Christian Reformed Church and made profession of faith there.

He married Alida Stam on January 8, 1948 and lived near Peoria for one year. They then moved to a farm near Pella. He farmed until his retirement in 1986.

Bernie and Alida later moved to Pella. He began cleaning offices at Precision Pulley and continued in that position for many years.

Bernie attended the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella since 1949 where he served as Elder and Deacon for several years. He loved to read Christian literature and listen to Christian music, especially the Psalms.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Alida; his children: Lauren and Marilyn (Spoelstra) Vander Molen of Harvey, Kathleen (Robert) Van Donselaar of Pella, Janet (Mike) Evinger of Knoxville, Robert and Terri (Arkema) Vander Molen of Pella, and Ruth Harding of Knoxville; thirteen grandchildren: Michelle (Eric) Fopma, Daryl (Kristen) Vander Molen, Renae Vander Molen, Kayla Vander Molen, Julie (Curt) Hooyer, Amy (Chris) Stoltzfus, Craig Van Donselaar, Nichole (Matthew) Davis, Brett Evinger, Michael (Susan) Vander Molen, Kyle (Audrey) Vander Molen, Lisa Vander Molen and her fiancŽ Jon Pederson, and Taylor Harding; nine great-grandchildren; his sisters and brother: Hilda (Edward) Groenendyk, Rachel (Lester) Fynaardt, Cathryn Van Ee, Lawrence (Mary Ann) Vander Molen, and Pauline (Donald) De Cook; and his sister-in-law: Henrietta Vander Hart.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters: Greta Vander Hart, and Anna Hol; brothers-in-law: Edward Van Ee, Marion Hol, and Paul Vander Hart; and his son-in-law: Charles Vander Werff.

Bernie will be missed by his loving family and his many friend.
