Born July 27, 1940 in Ward, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Amanda Tackett Oiler. He was also predeceased by his first wife Peggy Jean Barnett Oiler.
Survivors include his wife Catherine Jean Caison Oiler; sons, Larry Charles Oiler and wife Janice of Wilmongton and Gary Dwayne Olier of Wilmington, NC; daughters, Cythia Renee Clemmons and husband, Freddie, Allison Hope Fintz and husband, John, Amy Gail Oiler, Jennifer Dawn Oiler and fiance' David Bryan and Holly Suzette Oiler all of Wilmington, NC, seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, March 21, 1994 at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel by Reverend H. Burton Whiteside and Nathaniel L. Bost Sr. Burial followed in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Otis Medlin, Donnie Arthur, Jonathan Scott Nunn, Timothy W. Maggard, Wilbur C. Brown and Gene O. Hodgen. Honorary pallbearers were David E. Bryan and Frederick A. Clemmons.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 20, 1994, 7:00-8:00 pm at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel.
