Mr. Jordan, prominent Pulaskian and a leading business man, had not been in ill health and his death profoundly shocked his family and large circle of friends.
He remained in his drug store until 10 o'clock Saturday night and had not complained up to that time of not feeling well. He was taken violently ill about an hour before he died and the end came swiftly.
The services at the home will be in charge of Rev. D. P. Hurley, pastor of the Methodist church assisted by James T. Trolinger. Mr. Jordan was a Methodist, an Elk, a Mason and a Shriner.
Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
The pall bearers will be Cadall Harmon, M. A. Shuff, Jr., Raymond Moyers, O. P. Jordan, Jr., W. H. Wysor, David Laughon, James Bosang and Pierce Whitman.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his widow, a son Henry D. Jordan by his first marriage, and two children by his second marriage: Mrs. F. R. Wilson of Woodbury, N. J. and Miss Margaret Jordan of this city. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. R. H. Woolling and a brother, O. P. Jordan both of this city. His first wife was Miss Ella Darst of Dublin. Following her death, he married in 1895 Miss Jennie Whitman of Wilmore, Ky.
Mr. Jordan was born near Kingsport, Tenn., and had lived in Pulaski since 1890 when he established his drug business. At the time of his death, he was proprietor of the A. H. Jordan & Co. drug store on Commerce street. He had lived in Pulaski county for 50 years.
Among the relatives who will be here for the funeral are: Mrs. H. S. McLean, a sister-in-law of Wilmore, Ky., Mrs. Southgate Taylor, a sister-in-law of Norfolk, Va., a niece, Miss Helen Jordan of Bluefield, W.Va. and Mrs. G. B. Irvine and Miss Virginia Haller of Pocahontas and all the children. It is expected, due to Mr. Jordan's great popularity, that the service will be largely attended.
