Obituary taken from The Shelby County Democrat, Friday, December 14, 1917:

Isreal Hawver, who has been in failing health for over a year, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. A. Morris on East avenue, Friday evening at ten-thirty.

He was born in Maryland, January 26, 1829 and came with his parents to Shelby county ten years later. They were among the pioneers who came thru in wagons. He was one of a family of twelve children.

In 1854 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Dodds of Maplewood. Three children were born to them, Mary Alberta and Lester, dying during childhood. lMr. Hawver was a farmer of Logan county until the death of his wife in 1889 when he came to Sidney to live with his only daughter, Mrs. Morris.

He had been ill for a year but in the last two months his condition has been serious. He was a life long member of the Bethel German Reform Church.

He has two sisters living, Mrs. Kate Bell, of Pemberton, and Mrs. Elizabeth McCormick, of Jackson Center.
