Lt. Wade Hampton Taylor Sr., age 82, passed away on January 10, 2013 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Winchester, KY, on Feb. 26, 1930, son of the late Wade Taylor and Lucille Blizzard Taylor Holmes.

A member of the Catholic faith, Wade graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Jacksonville, and joined the Florida Army National Guard. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office after serving 41 years.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 62 years, Ellen Grace Hood Taylor, four children, Linda Taylor Martin (Gary), Wade Hampton Taylor II, Ann Taylor Goodroe (Mick), Susan Taylor O'Steen (Hal), seven grandchildren, Andrew Martin, Matthew Martin, Wade Hampton Taylor III (Justa), Sara Rodeghier (John), Brett Taylor (Ashley), Brooke Hunt and Katie Goodroe. Also surviving are a four great-grandchildren, Nash Rodeghier, Alyssa Rodeghier, Owen Taylor and Ashley Taylor, a sister, Anna Bruce Taylor Kostelnik (Thomas) of Winchester, KY, a niece, Kristy Kostelnik Lowery (Scott) and nephew, Bruce Kostelnik (Lauren).

The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 16 from 6 8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL, 32207. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 17 at 11:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. with Father Rafal Mazurowski as celebrant.
