Funeral services for Edward C. Bardelmeier, 92, who died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mather nursing home, Alton, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from the First Presbyterian church, the Rev. John P. Emig, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Valley View cemetery.
Friends may call at the Weber funeral home until 10 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the time of services.
The deceased, a retired farmer, had been a patient several years at the nursing home. His home was at 212 West Franklin avenue here.
He was born in Hamel Township May 29, 1866, one of 16 children of the late Ernst and Mary (Take) Bardelmeier. In 1898 he was married to Miss Adaline Williams, who preceded him in death in 1914.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edwin H. (Alice) Schlechte; a son, Oscar Bardelmeier; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Edwardsville and two sisters, Mrs. H.J. (Tillie) Voss of Pin Oak and Mrs. Julia Kleffman of Alhambra.
The deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian church, where he served on the Boards of Trustees and Elders and as a member of the Building committee when the present church was built.
He served for many years as a director of the Edwardsville National Bank and Trust Co., assisted in organizing, and became a charter member of the Madison County Farm Bureau, and also assisted in organizing the Madison County Mutual Automobile Insurance company. For many years he served as a director and treasurer of the Hamel Township Mutual Fire and Wind Insurance companies. He took an active part in many civic affairs.
