Malinda Johnson
Malinda Johnson, 91, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 19, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 2, 1908, at Goltry, Okla., the daughter of John P. and Helena Base Schmidt. A former Ringwood, Okla, resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to West New Hopedale Church, Ringwood, attended Berean Baptist Church, Hutchinson, and taught child evangelism and Sunday school in Oklahoma.
On June 1, 1930, she married Edward Johnson at Goltry. He died March 18, 1980.
Survivors include: three sons, Harold, Lincoln, Neb., Arthur, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Leonard, Council Bluffs, Iowa; a daughter, Helen Issac, Hutchinson; a brother, Ervin Schmidt, Goltry; three sisters, Celesta Thomas, Ringwood, Elfreda Jones, Lincoln, Neb., and Elvera Ratzlaff, Orienta, Okla.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Matilda Epp.
Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Roger Neir presiding. The family will receive friends at the mortuary after the service. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at West New Hopedale Church, Ringwood, with Pastor Don Bloom presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.Tuesday and Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County or Berean Baptist Church for her grandsons' mission funds both in care of the mortuary.
