Alvin C. Hatch, age 95, a lifelong resident of Lisle, IL, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL.

He was born December 28, 1916 in Lisle.

Husband of Genevieve (nee Schumacher) Hatch, whom he married November 11, 1950; father of Dennis Hatch of Lisle, Donald (Del) Hatch of Carol Stream, IL, Margy Grow of Woodridge, IL and Judy (Gary) Oswald of Geneva, IL; grandfather of Erica (Tim) Doody, Jennifer (Jacob) Brown, and Nicole (fiancé, R.J. Paulick) Hatch; Stephanie, Harry, Douglas and Lauren Grow; Kelsey Oswald; great-grandfather of Sophia, Anthony, Nicholas and Alexander; son of the late John and Bertha (nee Hermann) Hatch; brother of the late Robert (the late Dorothy) Hatch and the late Martin (Blanche) Hatch.

Alvin was a life-long resident of Lisle. He grew up on the Hatch family farm on Route 53, which is now part of Four Lakes Village. He attended Goodrich Grade School and Naperville High School. He farmed for many years and built his own home with the help of family and friends. He later worked at Riedy's Hardware in Lisle.

He was a devoted longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and served as one of the very first altar boys. He enjoyed all things mechanical, especially lawn mowers and tractors. Alvin loved to tinker, build and fix things, and was a handyman to many in the area. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation Tuesday, October 16, 3:00-9:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville.

Services will begin Wednesday, October 17, 9:15 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Kingston & Front Streets, Lisle.

Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
