The son of a Lutheran preacher, he was born May 21, 1927, in Bishop. He graduated from Texas A&I University with a degree in petroleum engineering.
Pete was proud to have served in both the Merchant Marine and the U.S. Army.
Following his military service, Pete went to work for Atlantic Refining and retired from Atlantic Richfield 32 years later.
His son, Mark; two sisters, Delores and Dorothy; brother, Theo; and his parents, the Rev. M.J. and Elda Lorfing, preceded him in death.
