Italian Aristocrat. Born Virginia Elisabetta Luisa Carlotta Antonietta Teresa Maria Oldoïni, she was famed for her beauty and was pone most admired women in the realm of Victor Emmanuel II, King of Sardinia, where she was called "Divina Contessa". Her cousin, Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour. Italian statesman and minister to King Victor Emmanuel, sent her to the court of French Emperor Napoleon III, where she tried to influence him to support the unification of the Italian states, and where she scandalously became his mistress.
