ESCONDIDO, Calif./BROOKLET, Ga. - Mrs. June Joiner Sikes, 79 years old, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at her daughter's residence in Escondido, Calif. June was born in Brooklet, Georgia, to the late Edgar and Debbie Davis Joiner. A graduate of Brooklet High School, June moved to Savannah, Ga., where she graduated from Draughn's Business School. She was employed from 1956 until 1965 with several finance companies in Savannah, Ga., and served as assistant manager of Beneficial Finanace from 1965 until 1975. June worked with Farmers and Merchants Bank from 1975 until 1996 as a loan officer and returned part-time from 1997 until 1999 in loan review. She married Henry Sikes 38 years ago and they eventually made their home in Brooklet, Ga., until moving to Escondido three years ago. She was a member of Believers Church of Statesboro. She gave her life to the service of others. A beautiful soul is now with out Lord Jesus Christ.
June was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Cecil Joiner, Harold Joiner and Hilton Joiner.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Henry Sikes; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Jack Kuvelas of Escondido, Calif., and Sharon and Hercules Kritzinger of Savannah; four grandchildren, Chad McDaniel of Canada, Jason McDaniel, Amy Hudson and Dustin Hudson, all of Escondido, Calif.; and a sister, Louise Griffin of Pooler, formerly of Brooklet. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Brooklet City Cemetery.
