Ruth Nichols Daniel, 83, of Carolina Rest Home, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Daniel was a member of Victory Baptist Church and she dearly loved her church and her church family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, loved flowers and working in the garden, and babysitting. She worked at J. P. Stevens for 15 years.
She was born April 4, 1928, to the late Thomas Nichols and Lilly Godwin Nichols, and was also predeceased by her husband, James Daniel; her son, Randy Mitchell; and three brothers: Paul, George and Charlie Ray Nichols.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carter and husband, John; her son, Keith Daniel and wife, Debbie, of Roanoke Rapids; her step-sons: Robert Daniel and wife, Shirley, of Richmond, Virginia, and Kenneth Daniel and wife, Diane, of Sanford, N. C.; her step-daughter: Gail Britt and husband, Ronnie, of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren: Heather Blythe, Jennifer Short, Felicia Hinds, Kimberly Mitchell, Melissa Mitchell, Brittany Daniel, and Amy Daniel; her great-grandchildren: Rebecca Blythe, Matthew Blythe, Isabella Short, Tristan Short,Cohen Mitchell, Lucas Mitchell and Jayden Hinds; her step-grandchildren: Robbie Daniel, Jamie Daniel, Shannon Howard, and Claude Daniel; her step-great-grandchildren: Chase Howard, and Alexis Howard; her special adopted granddaughter: Amber Harsh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements on Friday, January 27, 2012, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M.
