Mrs. Deaton, 93, entered into eternal rest on November 3, 2012. She was born on June 16, 1919, in Fort Mill, SC, daughter of the late Thomas Clarence and Edith Hoagland.
Mrs. Deaton grew up in Lockhart, SC, and then moved to Charlotte, NC, where she lived for over 80 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Campbell Cathey and Ora Boyce Deaton; sisters, Ruth Heafner, Betty Ray and Dorothy Jo Buskirk; and step-daughters, Marjorie Cameron and Peggy Jane Robinson. Mrs. Deaton is survived by her daughters, Jane Cathey Cole and her husband, Don, Wriston Deaton Duran and her husband, Ernie and Kim Deaton Smith and her husband, Steve; sister, Marianna Bailey; step son-in-law, Robert N. Robinson; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
