Helen Esther (Phillips) Binder, 90, of Macon, Mo. passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Samaritan Memorial Hospital in Macon, Mo.
Helen was born on December 16, 1916, in Macon County, Missouri the daughter of James Walter and Naomi Courrier Phillips. On October 20, 1934 in Macon, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Lee Binder. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1982. She gave her life to Jesus as a young woman and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Macon. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at the Calvary Baptist Church in Macon. She enjoyed quilting, but most of all, spending time with her family. She worked at Still-Hilldreth Sanatorium and Samaritan Hospital, and owed the Dutch Maid Laundry Mat. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by twin daughters, Joyce Swallow of Salisbury, Mo and joan McCarty and husband Frank of Columbia, Mo; three grandchildren, Jenifer Schupback and her husband George of Keytesville, Mo. Timothy James Swallow and wife Amy of Salibury, Mo, and Jesse McCarty of Columbia, Mo; five great grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, and Mylie Schupback and Colin and Anna Swallow; and nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard Lee Binder; one son-in-law, James O. Swallow: and two sisters, Gladys Harding and Vada Cheever.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Pastor Tim Sadler and Bro. Clark Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, east of Macon. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30-11:00 at the funral home.
