Retired Lt. Col. Gordon Rowe Griffith, 90, of Huntsville passed away Monday.

Lt. Col. Griffith was born to Lillian Rowe and Everst Ray "Jack" Griffith in Worthington, Ind. He attended Indiana University, where he met the love of his life, Mary Fay Gillett. They married Aug. 10, 1940. He joined and served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, where he flew aircraft both home and abroad. After retiring from the Army, he continuing to fly aircraft while working Civil Service at Redstone Arsenal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fay Griffith.

Survivors include his brother, Max Griffith of Martinsville, Ind.; four children, Jane Ford of Anniston, Jack Griffith and Jill Griffith of Loveland, Colo., and Judy Meeks of Madison; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today with the Rev. Don Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 303 Williams Ave., Suite 116, Huntsville, AL 35801.
