Tobias L. Groft, 44, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care 4:47 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2004, at Hanover Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Clearview Road in Hanover. Born in Hanover on March 29, 1960, he was the son of Burnell A. Groft of Hanover and the late Geneva Crist Groft. Mr. Groft was a welder for Hanover Lantern, where he had been employed for 10 years. He was a member of the McSherrystown Home Association. He graduated from Hanover High School with the class of 1978. In addition to his father, he is survived by a stepmother, Mary Houser of Hanover; a stepbrother, Tim Houser of Hanover; and a stepsister, Trudy Houser of Hanover. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Groft; and a stepbrother, Terry Houser. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 8:30 Wednesday evening at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be private. The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt will officiate.
