Glenn "Buster" Black, 87, of Herrick, IL., passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pastor Jay Huddleston will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery near Herrick. Military rites will be performed by the Sarver-Guthrie American Legion Post #839 of Herrick. Buster was born April 27, 1925, in Fayette County, IL., the son of Oliver and Martha Pope Black.

He served his country in the United States Navy during WW II. He was a member, teacher and led the singing in the Oak Grove Church of Christ at Cowden.

Buster retired from Continental Bondware Corporation in Shelbyville, IL. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Norge Corporation and Fedders Corporation, both in Effingham, the P. N. Hirsch warehouse in Vandalia, IL., Grain Systems Inc. and Crane Packaging Co., both in Assumption, IL. After his retirement he worked at the County Market and Pioneer Seed Co., both in Shelbyville. He was an outdoorsman who loved gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing and raising blackberries.

He married Carole Naab on Jan. 26, 1955, in Fayette Co., IL., and she survives.

Also surviving are children: Connie Ray (Michael) Wehrle of Cowden; Randy E. (Rhonda) Black of Herrick; Vickey Sue (Jerry) Smith of Herrick; and Wanda L. (Rick) Allen of Pana, IL.; grandchildren: Lisa (Joe) Wills, Kara (Brad) Thompson, Dustin (Kristen) Wehrle, Courtney (Tim) Prosser, Matthew (Alyssa) Black, Malaney (Matt) Hall, Rena (Greg) Snyder, Schuyler Wideman, Justin (Felicia) Allen and Kristopher Allen; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Norma Tucker of Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and several brothers and sisters.
