Earl E. "Gene" Horton, 72, of Greenbrier, Arkansas, died Sunday, December 19, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was born December 5, 1938, in Tupelo, Oklahoma, a son of the late Ellis Edwain And Florence Lorene (Daniels) Horton. He was of the Southern Baptist faith. He was an avid horseman, and loved traveling to horse shows with his wife.

Gene retired from the Air Force after 28 years of service, as a Master Sergeant and Intelligence Officer. His military career took him all over the world; and he received many honors and degrees with his service.

He is survived by his wife, Marti Venable Horton of Greenbrier; son, Daniel Horton of Reno, Nevada; daughter, Natalie Downer of Vacaville, California; Sandra Carpentier of Utah; a sister, Sarah Folmnsbee of Davis, Oklahoma; a brother, Edwin Horton of Dallas, Texas; and a number of nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
