Daniel Camp Rix. Captain 51st, first enlisted private, was promoted 1st Lietenant after battle of Fair Oaks and Seven Pines. Was promoted Captain after Gettysburgh. Was killed at Chapin's Farm. We knew him as one of our most esteemed young men. Gentlemanly in his bearing, more than ordinarily prepossessing in appearanoe, agreeable, honest, intelligent, moral, he was universally beloved. His remains carried with us one night on their way to their final resting plaee beside the graves of both his rather and mother at Ridgeville, Ohio. A sister hand today, I don't not places flowers upon his grave, and waters them with mans tears.

F, 81st infantry regiment, September 17, 1861; discharged, February 9, 1862, on consolidation; again mustered in as second lieutenant, February 10, 1862; as first lieutenant, July 22, 1862; as captain, Co. E, October 8, 1863; killed in action, September 29, 1864, at Fort Harrison, Va.
