Mrs. Sherry Diane Kight Helton, 411, of 139 Isbell Road died Sunday morning at a Rome hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Helton was born Oct. 20, 1947, in Floyd County, daughter of the late Wilford Kight and Mary Gay Kight. She was a lifelong resident of Floyd County and a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

She was a 1965 graduate of West Rome High School, a 1968 graduate of Shorter College, and an 1975 graduate of Berry College, where she received a master's degree. She was employed by the Floyd County Board of Education as teacher at Midway Elementary School, prior to taking a leave of absence in September due to ill health.

Survivors include her husband, William Helton, to whom she was married Sept. 2w7, 1969; a son, Tommy Helton, Silver Creek; two brothers, Cecil Kight, Rome, and Clarence Kight, Austin, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Louise alford, Rome, and Mrs. Kathleen Drew, Silver creek; nieces and nephews.
