Arthur B. Hampton, of 604 W. Calhoun Ave., president of the Painters local 90, collasped and died at 2:45 p.m., March 20, 1955, in the 4100 block on Peoria Road while riding in an automobile driven by Mrs. Louise Alwerdt, of 1727 S. Ninth St.

According to Coroner W.C. Telford, he had a known heart ailment.

Mr. Hampton was born July 26, 1891 in Rockport and had been a Springfield resident for 60 years.

He had served as president of the painters local for 20 years and was formerly employed as a painter by the Springfield board of education.

His wife, Elizabeth, died in 1940.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lucy Goodwin, of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Woodsum, of Springfield; and Mrs. Ada Adler, of Quincy; a brother, James E., of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at SS. Peter and Paul's church.

Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
