Merton O. Jaycox, 79, of Butternut Ridge Road, died at Amherst Manor Nursing Home yesterday morning following an five-month illness.
Born in Amherst, Jan. 15, 1890, he lived all his life in the Elyria area. he was a retired employee of Milford Rivet Machine Co.
Survivors include two sons, Leeman of Amherst and Lawrence of Elyria; one sister, Mrs. Ada Petty of Amherst; one brother, Ervin of Amherst; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara in 1963.
The family will receive friends at the Wainwright Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home tomorrow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. Eugene Kurtz, pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Amherst, officiating. Burial will be in Crownhill cemetery.
