WATERBURY — Stanley R. Payne, 90, passed away Jan. 9, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of Natalie (James) Payne.

Stanley was born July 18, 1922, in Waterbury, the son of the late Russell C. and Emily H. (Schumacher) Payne. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Bridgeport and was the owner and principal of the Payne Agency of New England.

Stanley was a veteran of World War II, having served as an officer in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He was a longtime Waterbury resident, where he was active in Republican politics, city affairs, and various church and nonprofit activities. He was also a member and past president of the Waterbury Kiwanis Club and a member of the Waterbury Club.

Besides his wife of 68 years, Mr. Payne is survived by his sister, Betty (Payne) Quiberg of Hawaii, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements: Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave., to St. John's Episcopal Church for funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:30 Monday morning until the funeral procession leaves for church.
