Burr Hawley, proprietor of a general store in Stepney for the last 50 years, and one of the most prominent residents of that section, died this morning at his home at the age of 79 years. Mr. Hawley was born in Stepney, the son of James Uriah and Mary Ann Curtis Hawley, who were descendants of families who first settled this part of Connecticut. Mr. Hawley was a deacon and active member of the Stepney Baptist church. He was a man looked up to by everyone in Stepney and its surrounding towns. He is survived by two sons, Milon Hawley, who was associated in business with him in the B. Hawley & Son Co., and Elmore Hawley of this city.
