OBITUARY :
MRS. E. JANE W. (WADE) CHRISTIE, 96, of 6730 DeBold Road, Sabillasville, MD, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday afternoon, May 17, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born April 2, 1920 in Cascade, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Mary (Royer) Wade.
She graduated from Smithsburg High School with the class of 1938 and she later graduated from Waynesboro Business College in 1940.
Mrs. Christie served with the United States Navy during World War II. She served in the Naval Intelligence Department in Washington, D.C., during the attack on Pearl Harbor and throughout the war.
She and her husband, the late John G. Christie, were married on October 22, 1943 in Westminster, MD. They moved to DeBold Road in 1946. Mr. Christie died on May 28, 2001.
Mrs. Christie was a life member of the Germantown Church of God, where she was a very active member, including serving as a Sunday School teacher and serving on various committees.
She enjoyed gardening, especially gladiolas and daffodils, which she gave away on a regular basis.
She is survived by three daughters, Faye Anne Worth and her husband, Edward of Sabillasville, Susan Jane Knill and her husband, Jeff of Michigan, and Dorothy E. Walls and her husband, Tom of New Oxford, PA; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She and her husband also mentored many children who became part of her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gerry Baker; and three brothers, Paul Wade, June Wade, and Ted Wade.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 21, 2016 in Germantown Church of God, 16924 Raven Rock Road, Cascade, MD with Pastor Mark A. Hosler officiating. Burial will follow in the adjacent Bethel Church Cemetery, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Cascade American Legion.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
