Willard Hugh Parker, 85, passed away January 8, 2013 in the hospital. He was from Rocky Mount, NC and was the son of the late Edward and Rosa Parker. He is now with his heavenly father singing and playing the piano which he loved to do. He loved Southern Gospel music and was very active in his church, Calvary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC. He was a deacon and also played the piano for a quartet and a ladies trio which won best trio at the North Carolina singing convention in 1955.
After serving his duty in the Army he worked as a Service Manager for the Coca Cola Company in Rocky Mount, NC until November 1955. He was asked to come to Norfolk, VA as Service Manager. He was with the company for 35 years.
He was a member of Fox Hall Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA. Now Cornerstone Baptist where he played the piano until giving up playing because of Alzheimer's.
He formed a trio while at Fox Hall and also played the piano for several quartets
He is survived by his high school sweetheart Iolene Alderson Parker which he married in a military wedding November 1945 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana while he was serving in the Army. He has 2 sons Larry and wife Carolyn Parker, Michael Parker, three grandchildren Justin, Jessica and husband Jeramey Ingalls, and Kevin and wife Shari Parker and a great grandson K.J. Parker. He also leaves behind a host of family and friends which he loved. He always had a smile and never met a stranger.

Viewing will be Thursday, 1/10/13, 6-8PM and funeral services will be Friday 1/11/13 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk VA 23502 by Pastor Fred Braswell. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following funeral services.
