Karen Glover 73, of Sundance, WY, passed to be with the Lord on January 9, 2013, in Rapid City, SD, after a long battle of health issues. Karen Gayle Hegge was born June 4, 1939 to Palmer and Edna (Cronn) Hegge at Sioux Falls, SD.
1945 brought about many changes to Karen's young life--she was joined by a brother, Robin and later that year the Hegge family moved to Crook County, WY, to take over the Blackman Ranch on Rifle Pit Divide just east of Sundance. Karen graduated from Sundance High School in 1957, and later that fall she entered the University of Wyoming, where Karen continued her education for one year.
She married Kenneth C. Glover on October 12, 1958, in Sundance, WY. The newlyweds made their home in Sundance, where Kenny was employed by the Wyoming Highway Department.
Karen began her career in December of 1958 in the Crook County Treasurer's Office under Paul Yeoman. On July 1, 1965, Karen was appointed Crook County Treasurer by county commissioners following the mid-term death of Paul. Karen continued serving the citizens of Crook County as County Treasurer until August 1, 1997, when she retired.
Karen served as Secretary for the Crook County Democratic Central Committee form 1962-1997. Following retirement Karen worked alongside Kenny on the ranch doing whatever necessary. Her love of their home on Rifle Pit Road showed in all of her pictures, art, and photography. Karen always had a love of the outdoors, animals and a love of music, which she displayed by her ability to play the accordion. Many times her and her mother sang together while she played her accordian. From the time as a small child, Karen was surrounded by her horses, whether it be riding or taking a picture, or just playing--they were always a vital part of her life.
Karen is survived by her husband, Kenny Glover of Sundance; brother, Robin Hegge of Sundance; and nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer and Edna Hegge; and a nephew, Bobby.
Visitation will be Monday, January 14, 2013, at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Sundance United Methodist Church.
