Hubert Edwin Robinson Sr., 89, of Middleway, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at his residence.

Born Sept. 26, 1923, in Montgomery, Pa., he was the son of Clarence M. Robinson and Julia (Clark) Robinson.

Mr. Robinson retired after many years from Double Day and Company, Berryville, Va.

He was a member of Charles Town Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and deacon. He was the oldest member of the Yoke Fellows Bible Class. He served in the hand bell choir.

Hubert was a graduate of Charles Town High School and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his sons,
Hubert "Ed" Robinson Jr. and wife, Ellen, of Leetown,
John W. Robinson and wife, Linda, of Charleston, S.C., and
Clarence E. Robinson, of York, Pa.;
daughter,
Arletta R. Lancaster and husband, Bill, of Charles Town;
three grandchildren,
Melanie Robinson Wayt,
Melissa Lancaster and
Amy Lancaster;
two great-grand-children,
Rachael Elizabeth Wayt and
Samuel Christopher Wayt;
three sisters,
Edna Hastings, of Hagerstown, Md.,
Nedine Keadle and husband, Eugene, of Leitersburg, Md., and
Patsy Willingham and husband, John, of Charles Town; and
several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Dunn Robinson, who died Nov. 16, 1991; and
two brothers,
Walter M. Robinson and
Robert Preston Robinson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Charles Town Presbyterian Church, 220 E. Washington St., Charles Town, with the Rev. John Bethard officiating. Interment will be at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.
