Virgil Melvin Wilson, 82, of Roanoke, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013. He was a longtime member of Penn Forest Christian Church, a retired truck driver, and had a great love for Bluegrass and Gospel Music. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Minnie Wilson; step mother, Otis Wilson; brothers, Lewis Wilson, Thomas Miller; sister, Frances Todd; granddaughter, Shannon Perkins. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Ruby H. Wilson; two sons and five daughters, Barry Perkins (Jenny), Regina Schaaff (Ronnie Reynolds), Robert Perkins, Donna Cannaday (Dean), Melanie Hensley, Patricia Repass, Melinda Reynard (Doug); three sisters, Hazel Thierry, Jean Brookman, Eloise Greene (Leonard); ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Oakey's North Chapel with Mr. Russell Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.
