REVEREND LESTER ROBINSON POUND, VA – Reverend Lester Robinson, 86. On Thursday June 11, 2015 the Lord sent forth his angels to quietly and peacefully escort one of his saints home to spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

Lester was born April 24, 1929 to the late Hobart and Flara (Meade) Robinson. He attended Dotson School where he met his childhood sweetheart, Thettie Meade, who later became his wife and the love of his life. They shared 53 years together, raising their children and sharing life’s experiences. Lester was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a former mechanic for Virginia Concrete in Woodbridge, VA.

Lester was saved in June of 1949 and called by God to preach in the early 1960’s, and was ordained to preach in January of 1967. He was a true saint, serving his Lord and Master for many decades. He was the associate pastor and instrumental in the founding of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Woodbridge, VA; the former pastor of Ferbie Chapel and Lone Pine Chapel in Pound, VA; had regular appointments at Indian Creek Freewill Baptist and Pyles Memorial; served as interim pastor for several churches, and preached at numerous other churches

He had a humble and gentle spirit, and a smile that could melt your heart. He was always caring and doing for others, putting their needs before his. He loved everyone and cared deeply about their souls and salvation. Lester loved and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and entire family. He called his children “His Diamonds” He kissed them before going to work and woke them up for a “bite of sugar” when he got home. He was the Patriarch of the family and will be greatly missed.

Lester was also an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting rabbit, squirrel and turkey. He enjoyed gardening, canning and apple butter stir-offs. He loved history and had a thorough knowledge of the Bible.

He also loved music and sang for over 20 years with The Grace Quartet Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Flora (Meade) Robinson; his wife Thettie (Meade) Robinson, a son , Randy Robinson; a daughter, Emma Jo Mckisic; sisters, Faye Lester, Veatrice Cantrell, Odessa Counts, Inez Boggs and Anna Lee Meade; and brothers, Harold Robinson and Wesley Robinson.

Survivors include his son, Danny Robinson-Pound, VA; his daughters, Debbie Mercer and husband Roy,-Brunswick, GA, Karen Elkins and husband Mike-Pound, VA, Melissa Ealey and husband James-Radford, VA and Lisa Reynolds and husband Brian-Radford, VA; 13 grandchildren, Danny William Robinson, Amy Countiss, Leslie Crabtree, Rick McKisic, Tim McKisic, Tammy McKisic, Randy Wayne Robinson, Christina Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Stephanie Mercer, Andy Elkins, Lora Beth Belcher and Emilee Reynolds; 16 great-grandchildren, Carissa Short, Caleb Countiss, Lynzee Crabtree, Billie Jean Crabtree, Tyler McKisic, Ryan Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Whit Mercer, Annie Mercer, Zeke Mercer, Drew Elkins, Caden Elkins, Jackson Belcher, Will Belcher, Stella Belcher and John Luke Belcher; sisters, Cynthia Boggs and husband Denton-Lebanon, VA and Teresa (Clo) Robinson-Charleston, WV; several special nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones to mourn his passing, celebrate his homegoing and cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Saturday June 13, 2015 in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chris Strange, Reverend Randy Carter and Reverend Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until time of services.

Graveside committal service will be conducted at 11:00 am Sunday June 14, 2015 at the Meade Cemetery on Ferbie Road-Pound VA where grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as Pallbearers and great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 am to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pound Rescue Squad, P O Box 711 Pound, VA 24279 or Camp Jacob, 2723 Camp Jacob Road , Clintwood, VA.. Baker Funeral Home-Pound, VA is serving the family of Reverend Lester Robinson.
