Funeral services for Arthur Brockman, age 66, were held at the home Thursday, December 18 at 2 o'clock p.m. with the Rev. D. L. Druien in charge. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mr. Brockman, son of the late Jasper and Rachel (Wright) Brockman, was a native of this county. He died at his home here Tuesday, December 16 at 3:30 p.m. He had been in ill health for some 9 years. He professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Lillie Wise in 1904 and to this union 4 sons and 3 daughters were born. Surviving are: Hubert, Ray and Layfayette Brockman and Margaret Holt, all of this county, Mrs. Doc Bean of Russell County. One sister, Mrs. J. S. Hall, of Spurlington and 3 half-sisters, Mrs. Charlie Williams and Mrs. Jim Allen, both of this county, Mrs. Maud Jones of Mason City, Ill., 3 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were: Judge Walter Wise, Marvin Wise, Oliver Wise, Nathan McCubbin, Frank Edelen, and Sherman Wooley. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, January 1, 1948

Pfc. Brockman Killed In Action With Ground Forces On Leyte Dec. 16
Pfc. Roy C. Brockman was killed in action on Leyte on December 16th, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brockman, of Campbellsville, were notified by the War Department on January 26. He was with the ground forces under MacArthur and had been in the service since Sept. 12, 1941. He served overseas three years, first going to the Hawaiian Islands where he spent 21 months. He went from Hawaii to Australia for some eight months and served in two major battles on New Guinea and landed on the Philippines Oct. 1, 1944. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Doc Bean, Russell Springs; Mrs. Joe Clarence Holt, at home; Hubert Brockman, Campbellsville; Lafe Brockman, at home; and his twin brother, Cpl. Ray Brockman, who is with the armed forces on Oahu Island. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, February 1, 1945
