Beloved husband and father. Retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad (now CSX) after 37 years. Married to Alice Louise Bagwell for 59 years. Children are Anita Louise Salter Bragg, George Herbert Salter, and James Edward Salter. He came to Savannah, GA in 1933, was a member and deacon of the Bull Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed baseball and coached a little league team for 12 years. His 1960 Savannah Bank team won the City Championship. More important than winning was his desire to mold young boys into men of good character. He very much enjoyed hearing of their later successes in life. He was the son of George Hampton Salter and Clementine Herrington Salter.
