PIONEER WOMAN DIES

SUSAN ALEXANDER, LONGTIME RESIDENT OF HEMLOCK SUCCUMBS

Mrs. Susan Alexander, 80, wife of William B. Alexander and one of Howard county's pioneer residents, died Monday afternoon at 3:40 o'clock at her home in Sharpsville where they had recently moved from Hemlock. She had been a resident of Hemlock for the last thirty years and was a member of the Hemlock Friends Church for thirty-five years.
Sixty-four years ago, May 2, 1866, she was united in marriage to William B. Alexander. Fifteen children were born to them, nine of whom are living. They are: Edward Alexander of Ervin township; WILLIAM of Sharpsville; JUDD of Sharpsville; JAMES of Indianapolis; Charles of West Lebanon; Thomas of Nevada; Henry D. of Indianapolis; Mrs. Perry Pickering and Mrs. Lulu Rivers of Kokomo.
She is also survived by twenty two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Hemlock Friends Church the Rev. Echelbarger officiating. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery.
