Virginia Mary (Bohn) Albrecht was born on March 4, 1928 in Aberdeen, SD to Albert and Mary Bohn. Virginia grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central HS in 1946. She worked at the Beanery Caf where she met the love of her life, Elmer Albrecht. Elmer and Virginia were married on April 2, 1947 in Aberdeen where they lived for five years; then moved to Red Wing, MN for seven years and to Mitchell (1958) for twelve years, finally settling in Sioux Falls in 1971. Virginia worked for Thune Hardware in Mitchell for eight years and also worked as a telephone operator with US West for 17 years before retiring in 1991. She was active in her church and with the Pioneer Women of the Moose.
Virginias life centered around her family. This was evident by the fun she had with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always made each, (all 23), feel so special, never missing an opportunity to be part of their lives either playing a game or watching them play a game. She loved birthdays and remembered them all. Family gatherings at Christmas and the Fourth of July were some of her favorite times. Her zest for life showed in the love for her grandchildren. They were her passion. She gave her love unconditionally always wanting to be involved in their lives. (Thats how she turned into a big Twins fan these past months.) She also enjoyed her neighborhood friends - playing cards and attending stag at the Moose.
She is survived by her husband Elmer of 63 years; her four sons, Stan (Linda) Albrecht, Steve (Georgia) Albrecht Sioux Falls, Bruce (Becky) Albrecht Aberdeen, Anthony Albrecht Orlando Fl. Twelve grandchildren: Amy Gross, Aaron Albrecht, Charlotte VanRoekel, Judd Albrecht, Jamie Vickery, Jen Ohlenkamp, Tylor Albrecht, Desiree Albrecht, Allyson Albrecht, and Brandon Schjodt all of Sioux Falls; Brent Albrecht, Crystal MN, and Scott Albrecht, Aberdeen. Eleven great grandchildren: Abby, Zach, Briana, Jacob, Nick, Nathan, Addy, Liam, Mckenzie, Josiah, and Alyse. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gus and Elroy, sisters Sylvia Bear and Genevieve Weeks.
