William McClay died at his home in this city Monday morning and was buried in Elmdale Cemetery Thursday afternoon after the funeral service in the Methodist Church, Rev. Bronston and Rev. J. C. Wingerd officiating.
Mr. McClay was born in Cowansville, Pa., about 74 years ago. When a young man he went from Pennsylvania to Ohio and there was married to Sara Day a half century ago. Seven children survive him, to comfort and console the wife and mother. They are A. J. McClay of Ottawa, Kansas; J. C. McClay of Altus, Oklahoma; D. W. McClay of this city; Mrs. Addie Walker of Beagle; Chas. F. McClay of Parker; Chris. McClay of Dalles, Oregon; and J. O. McClay of Osawatomie. He moved to Kansas about twenty years ago and has lived here ever since. His death was caused by rheumatism complicated by other disorders. He has been an invalid for about ten years. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. --Osawatomie Graphic.

Researcher's Note: The date of death is believed to be Monday, February 15, 1909. The obituary was originally published in the Osawatomie Graphic, and I believe that both papers were published weekly; thus, the first obituary would have been a week earlier than this one. Also, cemetery records show that a cemetery plot was purchased by son James Oscar on February 16, 1909, a date which also supports a death date of Feb. 15.
