WHITE, RICK LORING April 9, 1949 to December 30, 2012 Rick White was born in Pasadena, CA, to Lenore and Loring White, older brother to Kristen and Brandon. Throughout his life, Rick was guided by his strong faith in Jesus Christ and loyalty to family and friends. Generous in spirit, he was always ready to help and reach out to others. Rick suffered a sudden heart attack at home and died shortly afterwards. He attended Pasadena High, Adams State College and SDSU, where he earned a Master's in education. A dedicated high school biology teacher and football coach of 39 years, he held the title of youngest football coach to win CIF. He taught and coached at Christian High, Valhalla, El Capitan and Granite Hills high schools before retiring in 2011. Rick had a passion for the outdoors, golfing with friends, fishing in the Sierras and Baja, and surfing at La Jolla Shores. His La Mesa home was always full of family, friends, football and laughter. He enjoyed family vacations and was an enthusiastic presence at his children's events. In retirement, "Boompa" found joy in his close relationship with his grandson Moses. Rick is survived by his wife of 39 years, Julie (Heacock), his daughter Megan, his son Casey, daughter-in-law Erin, grandson Moses, many family members, the Purple Falcons and an abundance of beloved friends. A celebration of Rick's life will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, at Foothills United Methodist Church, 4031 Avocado Blvd. in La Mesa. Hawaiian shirts encouraged. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to San Diego Rescue Mission.
