Mr. Omer Benningfield, 75, a retired farmer of Route 1, Finley, son of the late Mr. George Benningfield and Mrs. Sarah Emma Newton Benningfield, was born in Marion County, June 27, 1902. He died at 3 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, [1977], at St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville where he had been a patient for the past three days. He had professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Mae Reynolds, February 27, 1932. Besides his wife, Mrs. Mae Reynolds Benningfield of Route 1, Finley, he is survived by five daughters and three sons: Mr. Algusta Benningfield, Mrs. Pauline Judd, and Mrs. Wanda Callison, all of Campbellsville, Mrs. Lena Mae Gupton of Campbellsville, Route 2, Mrs. Pansy Barnett of Campbellsville, Route 4, Mrs. Lucille Ellis of Bradfordsville, and Mr. Ronald Lee Benningfield and Mr. Omer Benningfield, Jr., both of Finley, Route 1. Mr. Benningfield is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters: Mr. Shelby Benningfield, Mr. Chester Benningfield, Mr. Harry Benningfield, and Mrs. Hattie Chaney, all of Campbellsville, and Mrs. Lizzie Richerson of Campbellsville, Route 5; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, December 16, at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Chapel by Rev. Thurman Eaton and Rev. Wayne Oldham. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eugene Benningfield, Garnett Newton, Willie Ray Shipp, Johnny Sherrill, Kenneth Richerson and Michael Price.
