Gerrit Jan's wife Gerritjen Pennings was born in the Netherlands in 1830 and died in Aalten (Dale) December 5th 1866.
Last Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Brink, living one and one-half miles west of Orange City, occurred the death of G. J. Pennings, sr.
Mr. Pennings was attacked by the grip on Thursday and later on it developed into lung fever. He was an old man, being about 71 years of age.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Reformed church, and were attended by a large number of the relatives and friends of the deceased.
