Warren Arnold Shepherd, Jr., age 80, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center in Shelbyville, TN.
Funeral service will be 6 PM Friday, April 16, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Stephen Caine officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Friday at the church. Graveside service will be 10 AM Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Born October 20, 1929, in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, to the late Warren Arnold and Myrtle Arlene Andreas Shepherd, Sr.
He grew up in Roselle Park, NJ where he met his wife. Warren was a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a bachelor of mechanical engineering degree in 1951.
He moved from New Jersey with his family in 1974 to Shelbyville to assume the position of plant manager with Stanley Tools. He retired from Stanley after working for the company for 45 years.
His passions included his grandchildren, flying, boating. fishing and water sports, and raising cattle. He was a member of the Lions Club and the First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Urban Shepherd, of Shelbyville; three daughters, Dana Shepherd Tumpowsky, and her husband William, of Park City, Utah; Dawn Shepherd, of Birmingham, Alabama; and Doreen Shepherd McBee, and her husband, Stan, of Shelbyville; a brother, Bruce Shepherd and his wife Sandra, of North Carolina; and six grandchildren: Sarah, David, Matthew, Morgan, Molly, and Emily.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
