Funeral services for Violet Mae Byrd Watson, age 92, of Demorest will be held at 2PM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Rev. Russ Barker, Rev. Billy Burrell, and Rev. Charles Holland will officiate with interment to follow the service in Demorest City Cemetery.

Mrs. Watson died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Born in Macon County, North Carolina on January 25, 1920, Mrs. Watson was the daughter of the late Austin and Lela Arvey Byrd. Mrs. Watson was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and she was retired from Scovill Manufacturing with 25 years of loyal service.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Watson is preceded in death by her husband Jesse James Watson and grandson Warren Watson.

Survivors include son Kenneth James Watson of Demorest, son and daughter in law Philip B. and Linda Watson of Greenville, South Carolina, grandchildren Angie Nunnally (Glenn), Chip Watson (Mary), Loree Martinez (Chris), Suzanne Robinson (Ray), Robin Mitchum (Tab), Lisa Best (Larry), and Kenny Watson as well as 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 2-4PM and from 6-9PM.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Fund, 988 Historic Highway 441 North, Demorest, GA 30535.
