EX JUSTICE LANDON DEAD.
Well Known Jurist Passes Away at
His Home in Schenectady.
Schenectady, Sept. 7—Judson S.
Landon, one of the best-known of the
jurists and lawyers In New York state,
died shortly before 1 o'clock this morning,
aged 75 years. Death followed
a surgical operation on Monday.
Judge Landon was born at Salisbury,
Conn., Dec. 16, 1832, and entered
Yale In 1854. He was admitted to the
bar in 1850, and was elected district
attorney of Schenectady county. He
was a county judge in 1865, and a
member of the constitutional convention
in 1867. He was named by Governor
Grover Cleveland as one of the
justices of the general term .in 1884,
and in 1891 was appointed as an associate
justice of the Appellate Division
of the Supreme Court. On the
expiration of his term he was named
as an additional judge of the Court of
Appeals. He also was a writer on
legal subjects and was president ad
interim of Union college in 1885.
Judge Landon leaves a widow and
a son, R. J. Landon, a lawyer of this
city
