He was the paternal grandfather of the husband of my 2nd cousin Irene Prewitt who married Percyville Burns.

Son to Bill Lewis and Eveline Burns.

He was a slave owned by the Johnson family who were a part of the John Welch Prewitt family.

At the close of the war, he was freed as Wink Johnson. Wink changed his last name from Johnson to Burns some time later. His mother Eveline was at one time owned by the Burns Family. This was the connection and reason for change in Wink Johnson's last name to Burns.

During the interview with Fisher he said his paternal great grandparents were born in Africa. They came to America on a slave ship owned by John Welch Prewitt. They are buried in the Prewitt Slave Cemetery.

This information was handed down by family members and an interview from Fisher Burns before he died.
