From an undated and unnamed obituary; 'Doyle H. Higdon Dies March 1 - Doyle Harvey Higdon, 75, of Duncanville, formerly of Lamar County, died Wednesday, March 1, at Park Manor Nursing Home in DeSoto. Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at Grant Funeral Home Chapel in Deport with Maurice Neathery officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery with Masonic graveside services. Mr. Higdon was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Delta County, a son of Leonard Newton and Daisy Neill Higdon. He married Walcie Fendley on Aug. 21, 1937, in Hugo, OK. She died Oct. 1988. He had served in the Army and was a Mason and a retired farmer. Surviving are a son, Howard Higdon of Arlington; three daughters, Nell Higdon and Ann Gatlin, both of Duncanville, and Beth Rushing of Bonham; two brothers, Leonard and Leon Higdon, both of Fort Worth; two sisters, Edna Wickersham of Fort Worth and Irmead Click of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Higdon.'
