Residence Watauga County NC; a 27 year-old Farmer.
Enlisted on 9/18/1861 at Watauga County, NC as a Private;
on 11/20/1861 he mustered into "E" Co. NC 37th Infantry.
POW 5/27/1862 Hanover Court House, VA; Confined 5/28/1862 Fort Columbus, NY (Paroled); Exchanged 8/5/1862 Aiken's Landing, VA; Returned 10/1862.
He was Killed In Action in the Battle of Chancellorsville, VA.

The 37th Infantry Regiment, organized by Colonel C.C. Lee, was assembled at High Point, North Carolina, in November, 1861. The men were raised in the counties of Buncombe, Watauga, Mecklenburg, Wake, Ashe, Alexander, and Gaston.
This regiment reported 235 casualties Chancellorsville.
