Mrs. Lutheria Rogers Converse died Thursday, Aug. 7. 1902, after a long illness, as the advanced age of 82 years. She was a native of Vermont, but during her married life, the majority of her years, resided on a farm near Woodville, where she remained sometime after the death of her husband which occurred in the year 1885. She moved about some but being unsettled and childless and feeling the weight of declining years and the need of kindred care disposed of her real estate and in the fall of 1896 removed to the home of her nephew, Erwin Rogers of Grand Rapids, Mich., where she received the attention that a dutiful child would bestow upon a beloved parent. The last year of her life she had failed mentally and physically and two months prior to her death had been confined to her bed, requiring constant care. As she possessed a modest, retiring disposition, she was loved best by those with whom she was most intimately associated. In a quiet way she did much good, many could testify to the hand extended in time of need. She leaves two nephews, Erwin and Dennis Rogers of Grand Rapids, Mich., her brother James' widow and son F. A. Rogers of Ellisburg Center, and many friends in the vicinity of her. old home. The remains arrived on the train Saturday; accompanied by the nephew with whom she had lived. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. at the residence of F. A. Rogers, Rev. Chris. Williams of the Woodville Congregational church (of which she was a member) officiated. His remarks on "Lead kindly light" were well chosen and pleasing to the friends. The remains were buried beside her husband in the Ellisburg. cemetery, where her parents and brother and sister also rest, many assembled to pay the last tribute
of respect to a departed friend. Beautiful flowers, a tribute from western friends, were left with the casket.
