Services for Jacob F. "Jake" Watson, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2001, at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Frank Griffith will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wimberly Sunday School Class and the Camden Lions Club. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2001.
Memorials may be made to the S.C. Lions Foundation, Inc., 110 Medical Circle, West Columbia, SC 29169, or Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020. Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge.
Mr. Watson died Saturday, December 22, 2001. Born in Whitmire, he was the son of the late Thomas Herbert and Bertha Felder Watson. He retired in 1982 at Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs Supervisor at DuPont May Plant. Mr. Watson graduated from Greenwood High School and Clemson A&M College in 1941. He served on the Clemson Alumni National Council and was Kershaw County IPTAY Chairman Emeritus. He was a life member of the Camden Lions Club, a past president and past District Governor and served for two years on the Lions Club International Board. He was active in the Eye Bank Association and a past president of the S.C. Eye Bank, Inc., and a past treasurer of the Eye Bank Association of America. He was a United Way volunteer, served as a board member of the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and was Charter Chairman of the Christian Community Ministries. Mr. Watson was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church and had served as 192 lay leader, Sunday School teacher, chairman of the Council on Ministries and chairman of the Administrative Board.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Johnson Watson; children, Mary Lee Brazell and her husband Jim of Davidson, N.C., Thomas H. Watson and his wife Anne of Chesterfield, Va., John F. Watson and his wife Cecelia of Barrington, Ill., Barbara Wolla and her husband David of Winston- Salem, N.C.; 12 beloved grandchildren.
