Came with family to Texas about 1830, just prior to the Spanish government halting immigration. Grew up in Washington County near Independence. Married Joanna Catherine Ball in 1853, by George W. Baines, great-grandfather of Lyndon Johnson. Moved to Brazos County in 1856 on the John W. Stewart league near present-day Kurten and Reliance communities. Was a doctor and farmer. Died while on vacation in Galveston of pneumonia.
