Roland Hyrum Drechsel passed away January 4, 2013 in West Valley City, Utah. Born December 3, 1936 in Salt Lake City, son of Hyrum Otto and Flora Harris Drechsel. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Robinson, on January 19, 1957.
In their early years of marriage he served faithfully in the Utah National Guard. Roland could fix anything and whether he was sick or not he would always help others. He loved his family and friends dearly and was always there with a smile and a laugh to brighten your day. He was the Hero to his kids and grandchildren and the Rock and Strength to his wife, Marilyn. Roland had a very strong testimony of the gospel. He will be loved and missed and forever in our hearts.
Survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Drechsel; son, Lonne (Tori) Drechsel; daughter, Cheri Tovar and son-in-law Bill Tovar; siblings; Alan (Val) Drechsel, Bruce (Judy) Drechsel, Gay (Lenny) Michaelson, Carol (Lynn) Drechsel, and Sue Drechsel; several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother, LaMar Drechsel; and brother-in-law, Gerald Robinson.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013, 12 noon, at the Harman Ward, 4634 West Harman Drive (3700 South), where a viewing will be held Thursday, 10 - 11:30 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
