Born in Huntsville, AL, Sara was a daughter of the late Pete and Vivian Parton Sitz. She grew up in Birmingham, AL.
In 1951, Sara met the love of her life, John. They were engaged in 1953 and married the following year on June 5, 1954. She attended the University of Alabama but moved to Aiken following John's graduation before she could complete her degree. She and John celebrated 37 years of marriage before John was called Home in 1992.
With a committed faith, she spent the next 21 years pouring herself into the lives of her three children, seven grandchildren and her great grand-daughter. Mama rarely missed a major event in her grandchildren's lives. She also devoted time to her Church of 55 years, St. John's United Methodist, and her community. Sara was a long standing member of the St. John's Fellowship Class and Circle 4. She served as an office volunteer at St. John's, was a member of the Aiken Hospital Auxiliary, and worked with the Aiken Christian Women's Club.
Survivors include her children and grandchildren.....
In addition to her parents and husband, Sara was preceded in death by a nephew, Earl Douglas Jowers III
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
