Harriet Jean Cooper, 88, of Beardstown, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born May 30, 1924, in Beardstown, the daughter of Edwin and Grace Hilton Brockhouse.

Surviving are two nephews, Richard Brines and Gary (wife, Linda) Brines; one niece, Marilyn (husband, Craig) Schrieber; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Albert, Roscoe, Wilbur and Clifford; and two sisters, Eloise and Estaleen.

Harriet graduated from Beardstown High School. She worked at CIPS and Chevrolet Garage in Beardstown and retired as deputy county treasurer for Cass County, serving under Michael Barnett. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Harriet enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown.

Burial will be at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials have been suggested to Cass County Human Resource Center or First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
